Hi! I had a Netherlands Dwarf 20 years ago and decided to again add a rabbit to the family. Went to a local rescue and came home with sisters! I have two young daughters who are very happy with the decision lol. While I am comfortable with rabbits, it has been awhile and I’m brushing up on the latest information. I have a 22 year old deaf cat who Is smaller than the rabbits, so I am working on introducing them as well as teaching my girls to be good rabbit owners. So far we are doing well and everyone has been calm and relaxed. I’ve been reading through all the great posts and info here, so I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello!

Hello and welcome to Binky Bunny! If you haven’t already checked out the BUNNY INFO tab at the top of the page, do so. It has a lot of great info on all the basics of rabbit care. Feel free to ask any questions you may have too.

Welcome back to the world of rabbits! I think it lovely your daughters will get to know just what lovely animals they are. Hope the intro with the buns and cat goes well also.

I added the photo in for you. After the file uploads, just click on the insert image icon so it shows in your posts.

It looks like they are both ruby eye white buns?? The shelters have trouble getting them adopted, so it is wonderful that you took two! They are usually such lovely natured buns.

Big Welcome to BB!!! Your girls are beautiful!!! I may be a bit biased as I’m a big white bunny fan. I have 2, Bindi Loo, my Mini Lop REW and Sterling, my Brown Eyed White big boy.

No, the girls are New Zealand Whites. A bit bigger than what I had in mind lol, but they are sweet and super laid back buns. They even stay all stretched out while I vacuum around them. I love dwarfs, but bigger buns are definitely a better fit for being part of my family now.

Thank you! Your’s are beautiful! I am lucky to have the time and space for two, although my husband was a bit surprised to see double. I am really enjoying the bigger buns and the only downside of having the pair is trying to tell who is who (especially from behind lol) The rescue group did a great job matching us up and while we are still building a bond, it is really nice that they are very laid back and happy to investigate or oversee all the household happenings.

Thank you! My girls are definitely learning patience and how to earn friendship and trust of an animal. They made a “digging” box for them last night. I cut two holes in a cardboard box and they filled it with crumpled paper. The buns LOVED IT and the girls were so excited to come up with the idea. The cat hissed a couple times in passing and has now decided ignoring is the best approach lol. The cat tree has become a place of trust though as the cat uses the top platforms and the buns have the bottom. Thanks for help with the photo. New to the forum so I need to get used to the features. They are New Zealand Whites. They were born at the rescue, so I have their full history, which is nice. The rescue still has 30 buns ready for adoption so I did some spring cleaning and donated what I could. The buns are really surprisingly laid back, fine with the cat and vacuuming and general family activities around the house, and are doing great with their litter boxes. Being bigger, we ditched the idea of a hutch and instead rabbit proofed the first floor of our house. Everyone seems to be settling in well.

Thank you! The buns are settling in nicely and my cat has decided to go with the flow. Rabbit proofing the house actually pushed my cat out of her hiding places that kept her pretty isolated, and she is doing even better now that she is settled in a more central spot in the house. So lots of unexpected positive benefits for everyone in our family since we added the buns.

They both look so lovely. I am glad everyone is settling in well.

I may have to try making my own dig box!
