My female, spayed rescue rabbit is destroying my stuff, and I don’t know what to do. She’s got LOADS of toys and cardboard boxes, but she’s chewed holes in my curtains (now tied up), and a tear in the leather sofa even though it’s covered with blankets and duvet covers! (Damn!). She is about a year old, I’ve had her about 1 week. She was a Ferplast100 rabbit. I don’t want to pen her because I want her to be free range! The rip in the sofa happened while I was in the room anyway! Blink and I miss it. What can I do?

My other rabbit has pasturella so she has to stay in the living room just now :/

Maybe she’s been given too much freedom too soon? Many rabbits, if not most, need to be penned first, esp if they go from having been “Ferplast100” bunnies. It seems almost like she’s inebriated with freedom. Some previously caged bunnies react with fear and withdrawal when confronted with freedom. She’s only been with you for a week, so everything is still very new to her.

As bam said, it is usually advised to limit a rabbit’s space at first. For a few days or a week or so.

Agreed – start her in a small area, gradually expand it as you are able to trust her. That’s what I did with mine. I brought them in from outside and started them in a 4×4 area. I slowly expanded it only as I was able to trust them. 2 of them are reliable as free-range bunnies. The other 2 are still destructo bunnies and stay in a 6x11ft area.
