Maui is loving his new home! I let him roam in one room at night and through the house with me during the day. (I have the hallway sectioned off for him). He is “grooming” me and hopping in my lap or follows me, but doesn’t like being held.

My concern is this; When he plays, it looks like he’s doing a binky, but then again, he hops sometimes like he’s being bitten. (spiractic hops in the air and then shakes his head.)

I’ve tried to get near his ears, but I’m so blind, I can’t really tell anything. lol.

Note: He only does this when I sit and talk to him or if he’s playing. He doesn’t do this when he’s sleeping or being still. I was thinking if it was mites, he’d act that way no matter what he was doing, yes?

Binkys are usually sporadic and come with no warning. Most likely just binkys. You can always ask a vet to check for mites at an appointment though.

Haha, yes, sounds like binkies to me. There are all different sorts of binkies. I’ve made names for them all: head binkies, twisty binkies, popcorn binkies

He’s scratched a small patch of the hair off around his ear at the crease. His ears are pink and clean inside, but should I be alarmed? I tend to overthink, but I just want to make sure.

It’s hard to tell from the picture. Is the skin where he scratched hair off red and inflamed, or normal and pink? If he is going through a molt it may be normal shedding, rabbits tend to have thin fur on their ears anyways. But if it seems red or irritated I would take him to the vet to check for the cause.
