Hello bunny community! This is an update on the two found rabbits I’ve been posting about in my previous thread.
So I was finally able to sex the two bunnies and it’s a boy and girl pairing. I’m pretty sure the male is intact since he still has his testes. Should I separate the two? They are a bonded pair and it would break my heart to see them lonely but I don’t want the female to get pregnant if she isn’t already. I also don’t really have a lot of space in my house to give them a large amount of room and keep them seperate. If I did seperate them I would probably have to shove one of them in a pet carrier or put an xpen as a divider in my already cramp 3×4 bathroom. I am still actively looking for the bunnies owners so they won’t be fixed for more than a month. What should I do

You should definitely separate them. If the male is old enough to have testicles showing, he’s old enough to impregnate the female. Hopefully she isn’t already pregnant.

They were very likely dumped and it’s very doubtful that anyone will come forward to claim ownership. The owners probably want nothing to do with them and they wouldn’t want to admit that they dumped them, since it is illegal besides being very cruel.

Separate them yes but don’t just shove one in a pet carrier :-/

it’s just sad to see them separated. I actually had them separated when I first got them but the male struggled so hard to get to the female that he could have hurt himself. Plus, the female barely does anything unless she sees the male do it. Wouldn’t even drink water from a bowl till she saw the male do it a few times and clumsily figured it out herself. She kept dunking her face in the water.

You should keep them in separate cages, next to each other but not so close that they can mate through the cage bats. It’s traumatic for bonded buns to be apart, so they should be kept so they can hear and smell and preferably see each other.

I did but the male kept trying to find a way through and would try to jump over the fence. I’d come in after a loud crashing noise and find him on the other side of the barrier

If he is able to jump over the barrier, it sounds like he should be in something more secure, like a cage or dog crate.
