My bunny is a 4 month old, Lionhead female, she is recently spayed, and is doing GREAT at potty training… the only issue I’m having is that she will get on the litter box, but her butt is still hanging over the edge when she pees. Her litter box is the Jumbo size with a grate, and I have tried putting her hay trough at the back of the litter box to get her to climb all the way in, but it doesn’t help.

What are some suggestions of things I can do ?! I have thought about getting her a bigger litter box, but there aren’t any with a grate. I don’t want her to have one without a grate, because I don’t want her to get poop matted in her long hair or smell like a litter box.

         HELP.

How about getting a plastic tote with higher sides that the existing litterbox can sit in?

Or try something like that with a cardboard box first to see if higher sides resolve the problem.

I have a litter box that I believe was advertised for ferrets? It’s great because of the high side and low lip, but yes, Wick’s bottom sticks out and he pees out of it. Once he got the hang of using the box, I taped an acrylic pane to the low lip so it wouldn’t happen. 100% no outside spills. Cleanest litter box. I love it. I bought the panels on Amazon and used patience and a box cutter to fit it to size. I used simple sand paper to make it all rounded edges so it wouldn’t hurt him. I got the idea because on of Wick’s litter boxes is actually an acrylic display box while uses the panels as walls as well.
