I have a 11 week old male rabbit who will be neutered between 12-16 weeks.

I am adopting a female spayed 1 year old rabbit, it was arranged through a local rescue as a rehome from home.

I know I cannot start pre bonding the two rabbits until the male has fully recovered, 2-4 weeks post op. I will be keeping the male in my bedroom, and the female in my living room. This arrangement will exist until they are (hopefully) bonded. Then I’ll have two free range, happy bunnies!

Should I let them see each other at some point, through bars, to see the if there is hope of them being a good match? Or is hope and wait the best way to go?

You dont know his true personality and wont know until a month or two after he is neutered. You wont really know if they get along or not until his hormones are drained.

You can prebond though. Prebonding is keeping their cages about 10 inches apart so they can see and smell one another, but cannot reach one another. You can keep their set up like this until a month (months, not weeks) or two after he is neutered, and then you can start actual bonding. Bonding is when you take them both to a neutral area and place them together for short periods of time slowly increasing to longer periods of time over the course of a few weeks or months. They can live together once theyve gone a full 48 hours without any signs of aggression.
