Somehow, 5, 4 week old kittens spontaneously appeared…

I’m fostering them for a local rescue. Many of you remember that I’m a big fat foster failure and only ended up “fostering” Kyle for 3 weeks before adopting him. That won’t be the case here. It will hurt my heart but if I get another “bill” as my husband calls the animals, I will lose a husband.  I didn’t want to foster but the rescue was desperate. All the rescues are full. The lady who runs this one told me some days she was getting 20 calls or more about cats or kittens in need and had to turn them away because there are not enough fosters/ funds. A very sad situation as there are 5 cat rescues in my City on top of the SPCA. And they are all full. I wish there were spay/neuter laws. And it’s kitten season so the already busy rescues are just swamped. When she asked me if I could take these babies, I couldn’t say no. They would have been forced to live the life of a feral as they were in a feral colony which is why they are so young without Momma. She was spayed and released back into the colony. Any longer and they would also have turned feral. Feral cats have an average lifespan of only 2 years and have a very rough life.

I got these babes last Friday night so they will be around 5 weeks tomorrow.

There are 3 black and 2 grey. No names yet as I’m not sure who are boys and who are girls. The rescue said they think there are 3 girls and 2 boys. They are referred to as “The Fab 5”

Oh my goodness. Congratulations on the new fostering adventure! You’re kind to take them in for a shelter in need. Cats seem to be piling up everywhere these days. My local shelter has a number of them as well, some that have been there for years because there is no one to take them, short or long term. I know they will have a great stay with you and I hope they all get homes soon. I am allergic to cats but even I couldn’t resist that box o’ floof! Such sweet faces. They remind me of tiny wolves, especially that second picture looking like a tiny, cutely ferocious roar!

Some sad news: Had to find a new foster home for the kittens having them here was really stressing out Kyle. He’s been barely eating since they came and then stopped altogether Friday. Went to vet and his bowels are all backed up. Vet agrees it is probably stress. He’s doing a little better this weekend. Hopefully when he realizes they are gone he will snap out of it. Maybe for the best, I only had them one week and feel really sad they are gone.

They got one of the longtime foster guys to take them. He and his gf came this morning to pick them up. They are really great people and I’ve already seen pics and videos of the kittens having a ball. They have a big bright room, whereas here it was kind of dark and not that big in my basement so I’m happy for them but miss them already. I told this guy “Good Luck! They are very loveable!” Cuz I know the last litter of kittens he fostered, he kept all 4!

Oh wow, I never even would have thought how they might affect Kyle. Sending {{{vibes}}} for him.
Total bummer for you when you are just trying help out.
You took the pressure off the shelter anyway. Good to hear someone was able to step in

Fingers crossed they all find great forever homes when they’re old enough!
