My girlfriend and I stopped in a pet store today that we’ve never been in before to get a filter for her turtle. There were two baby bunnies for sale. They are being housed in incredibly small and bad conditions. My heart hurts so bad for them. I’m currently looking for another rabbit to bond with my Cocoa. The two rabbits being housed together are 2 months old. Do you think they are bonded? Would I be able to bond them with my Cocoa once they’re fixed? I would never normally support pet stores like this. I just can’t sleep knowing they’re being housed like that. And I’m looking for another bun. It just seems like fate. I don’t know what to do.

Baby buns cannot bond, so no, they are not bonded. If you get them, separate them asap. They are at that age where fights could start at any moment (if they havent started already). Putting three unknown (fixed, healed, and hormone drained) bunnies should be pretty average as far as bonding goes

Update. A while back, I contacted the local house rabbit society. My application was finally reviewed, and I now have a home visit set up tomorrow, and if it goes well I’ll be getting a bun! I would have loved to rescue those babies, but I need to take this opportunity to adopt instead.

It’s great that you will be adopting! I bet that Cocoa will be very happy about it too. If you’ve never bonded rabbits before, you can get some pointers from other members here and look at the bonding section under BUNNY INFO.

You may want to ask the HRS if they know of anyone you can contact to go check out the pet store. I don’t know if Animal Control or any other agency would get involved. If the conditions aren’t changed there, they will sell these bunnies and just get more in, and keep them in the same poor conditions.
