        Hello everybunny!

I made a post about this a few days ago but wanted to repost because I have some updated information.

The video link above shows one of my bunnies displaying an odd behavior. This behavior has only popped up recently and only happend when I feed them washed romaine lettuce. I have fed them this type of lettuce before but have never seen them do this mouth open behavior before. This behavior happens multiple times as i feed them the lettuce and has happened both times (the first instance a few days ago and again today) I have fed them this lettuce. I would like to know what this behavior is and if i should be worried. So far poop, eating and drinking are normal, the only thing that has changed is this one open mouth behavior.

If the link doesn’t work you can view the video on my youtube page “Melon Katsu” under the title “Bunny Brain Freeze”

I can only see one of the buns doing this weird gasping, almost like choking a little bit. Could they be so eager to get their share they eat to fast? If you just give them a leaf each and dont hold it, does the same thing happen?

yes I was only able to get a video of my dwarf doing it but both bunnies do the gasping behavior. Even when they are eating the lettuce on their own in little chunks they will “gasp”. the only reason why i’m holding the lettuce is so that they didn’t run off while taking the video.

=) Yes, they would run off, wouldn’t they =)

Then it’s not about competition. It’s weird that it’s both of them. I hope others will have better ideas, I’d never seen it before.
