So I was going to get a friend for my bun that I already have, but I’m conflicted on wether or not the friend I get should be a male or female (current bun I have is male) since i’ve seen some people say bonding two males won’t work, but some people say it will. I’m just wondering if it will work and if it does, will it be harder than a male and female bond?

Males and females tend to be easier, HOWEVER same sex bonding is possible.

If your thinking about another bunny I suggest if you can find a shelter for some speed dating. Knowing your bunnies personality is important for finding a new friend. On a personal note is there a specific reason you want a new bunny friend like of your not going to be around as much?

The reason I wanted to get him a friend is because I read they’re social animals and like to be with one another. Also I dont really know how to explain his personality, but he isn’t dominant

There are a few people who have solo buns. My bunny is solo and I give him lots of social interacting with pets, playtime, and treats. My opinion is that unless your not going to give your bunny the social interaction that he/she would normally get from another bunny then another bun might be for you. But if you dedicate at least 3-4 hours or more to playtime/social I don’t see why you m8ght need another.

How do you know he isn’t dominant? How he behaves with humans can be totally different to how he behaves with a bun.

My female is top bun but quite subtle about it – she’s never humped my boy but she won’t tolerate being humped.

I personally believe every bun is happier with a bunny companion. Some just take more time to find the right match. It’s great if you can dedicate a few hours of one-on-one time but that still leaves 20 hours…
