        Hello

I know there is a lot of information out there on this topic, but I was hoping for some advice on our specific situation.

My husband and I adopted a pair of bunnies -already bonded male and female- about 7 or 8 months ago. From what I can tell, their bond is perfect. They cuddle and groom each other constantly. They love each other so much. The female is dominant but not mean at all. The male is very quiet, laid back, easy going.

Now, there are two adorable rabbits at our local shelter that have been there for a while, and I can’t shake this feeling that we just need to take them. My husband feels the same way. They are both single. A male rex and a female new Zealand. The male is about the same size as ours, but the New Zealand is quite large… not sure if size is ever a factor? Both are neutered and close in age to our current two.

From the research I’ve done so far, I THINK, please correct me if I’m wrong, the best path to take would be to bond the two new ones together, and then start to bond the two pairs.

My concern is the two buns we already have – the LAST thing I want is to damage their bond because it is such a good one. (I realize there is a risk of this) I also don’t’ want them to become at all unhappy, even if we can successfully bond the four. Do buns tend to prefer to stay in pairs, or will they enjoy having two more friends – assuming they all get along?

Any insights or advice would be lovely!

        Thank you so much!

I think that is a sweet idea, I have 3 bunnies who get along fine, all you will need to do is bond the other 2 until they are close, then slowly put them all close but still separated and then put them all together about a month later, Im sure the bond wont be ruined but there will be fighting at first to find out the boss bunny in the hierarchy. You just need to remember once they are together to keep them together. Just also keep an eye on them to make sure they are acting their normal selves. And make sure the males are BOTH neutered for less boystrous fighting. Hope this helped
