My 7 week old Netherland dwarf keeps throwing her legs to the side in what seems like a violent bunny flop. Her eyes are very wide and her ears stick up when she does it. Is that still a bunny flop or is something wrong with her legs?

          Hello!

I just want to say that the act of flopping is definitely a good sign. It may seem a little scary, especially if you are a new bunny owner. But flopping shows great contentment and relaxation. If she was uncomfortable or in pain in the legs you would want to look for signs of lethargy, abnormal walking habits or limping.

A bunny lying with her legs outstretched is going to mean plainly that she’s greatly content and is just chilling, and if your bunny lays with her feet outstretched very often for extended periods of time it could mean her legs/feet are just sore.

With the “Flopping” in itself however no matter how hard, you can usually assume your bunny is feeling super free.

I agree with Sydneyyancee. Flopping is always good. Young buns can do the scariest full flops though, it can almost look like they’re seizing and passing out. First time my bun Yohio did that my heart nearly stopped. Another member told us she put her flopping bun in the carrier and drove him straight to the vet

But flopping is still always good and it means your bun is happy and relaxed and feeling safe. Leg pain would manifest differently, f ex as reluctance to move, limping, withdrawal.
