So my husband’s 12 week old male bun (Tonne) sprayed for the first time today. It was on the wall in our room but my husband said the color was very milky and light yellow. Is this okay? Does this sound like something vet trip worthy??

Rabbit’s urine is often “milky” meaning chalky, because it is calcium. Rabbits expel excess calcium via their kidneys as opposed to most other mammals. It’s not a problem, it’s a normal thing. As for the color, rabbit urine comes in many colors from light yellow to orange to reddish brown. That’s due to plant pigments in the food. Rabbit urine should actually never be perfectly colorless and clear.

Here’s an article from Medirabbit about rabbit urine and what’s normal and not normal: http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/Uro_gen_diseases/generalities/Sludge.htm

Bunny urine has a small bit of calcium to it so it appears cloudy. It’s when it’s sludge then it’s a problem.

I’m more concerned if your bunny and tonne are bonded as this might be the starting of a territorial battle

They aren’t bonded. They came from the same liter and they aren’t fixed. They are still too young. I want to bond them after healing from their spay and neuter. If this is a territorial type thing, do you think it is going to make bonding harder later on?

I think it is normal behavior for an unneutered male, and it won’t affect your bonding later on after the spay/neuter. My first male (Merlin) used to spray my hip as I walked past! Ick. After having him neutered, it stopped, and he bonded very well with Guinevere. They were the two cuddliest bunnies I could have imagined.
