So recently my home has been getting mice and rats running through the house, and I set up bait and am waiting till I can afford an exterminator, but while I have the bait out at night I’m worried that Frankie will somehow get out from his baracade and eat it. He is a free roaming bunny for half of the house with a long cage separating him from the kitchen and that is where the bait is, but sometimes he can get out or if someone hits the cage while walking over it, he can sneak out. But I was wondering if I moved him into my bedroom closet at nights if he would get too stressed or depressed since I know they don’t do well with extreme change. The closet isn’t too small, definitely big enough for two people to stand in there and there still be some floor space, and it’s shaped as a square. But I just don’t want any rats or mice getting to him until we can get an exterminator. What do you guys think?

You could try and see how he adapts to it. Make the area nice and home-like for him, with his normal things. He might not like being shut away for the night when he’s used to having people near him always, but it is for his own safety and only for a limited time.

are you using bait boxes? I used them when I had mice – there is no way a bunny can get at the poison as the entrance is tiny. Also, I put the boxes under things the bunnies could not access – under an arm chair, a bookcase, in a tiny space in the kitchen etc.

We have one bait box but I’ve never dealt with this before and one box isn’t getting all of them so I was thinking of buying the pellet bait and setting it out in bowls. That’s why I want Frankie safe and away at night, they look like his food!!

We ended up making his playroom cozy for him last night! We bunny proofed it and it’s the room we take him in to run around and binky so I think he was much more comfortable!!
