My Brucie, a small lion’s head rabbit grunts when i roll him a ball. He always tosses it back to me but sometimes he grunts before he does. I’ve read that grunting show frustration and it can also show happiness so i’m here for help! i don’t want to make him angry if he doesn’t want to play, but i don’t want to stop playing if he DOES want to play.

        Many thanks!

Sometimes I will hold a toy up to one of my buns. If they don’t want to play with said toy, they will grab it with their teeth and toss it away. Sometimes they grunt, but not always. But the tossing away of the toy is very deliberate. I can always tell the difference between that and them wanting to play. It sounds to me that your bun is doing something similar.
