Hi! I don’t see a pic, but it sounds like it could be ear mites.

Could be cheyletiella mites. Also called fur mites/walking dandruff. The picture isn’t attached. It is quite itchy for the bunny. Your vet can prescribe the correct dose of ivermectin. Oral/injection. Don’t try to remove the scabs – once the mites are killed, the scabs will fall off on their own. One of my bunnies has these mites. I rub oil in his ears every second day. It smothers the mites. I can’t tell if they are dead – just that the scabs haven’t gotten worse and the oil helps to sooth the itchiness. His ears don’t look as irritated. So I think the oil is helping the external ears, but mites can also get inside the ears – and I cant’ tell at the moment if he has wax buildup or mite inside his ear. They can cause damage to the ear structure/hearing, if left to get inside the ears.

I’ve added the photos into the post for you.

It does look rather inflammed. Possible ringworm or bacterial skin infection?

Do you have a vet that is familiar with rabbits?

Hmmm definitely inflamed. Doesn’t look like my bunnie’s mites. It could be – maybe just really itchy and scratched, or it could be bacterial/fungal like Jerseygirl mentioned. I’d get the rabbit to a vet. There are decent treatments for skin afflictions, and I’ll bet your rabbit would really appreciate some relief!
