Since having Toki, he has loved to chew on my wallpaper. I blocked it off by extending rugs up the walls, and laying down things to block access to the wallpaper. But now he has found a new favourite thing to chew, the corner of my wall. He already ripped the wallpaper off it and exposed the paint underneath. Now you can see little chunks taken out of the wall itself.

He seems to know this is bad because he only does it after I’ve gone to bed. I can see him slowly positioning himself towards it, ready to feast. Since I figured this wasn’t good for him (or my house!), I’ve been blocking it off using a play tunnel, but he started rolling it away. I also tried blocking it with a dog bed that he usually avoids at all costs, but he seems more than happy to jump on it in order to eat my precious wall. So at the moment, I use both the play tunnel and the dog bed to weigh it down. Sometimes I also block it with a heavy suitcase. This is working as a temporary solution, but I’d prefer something which I didn’t have to remember to set up every night.

So how can I make him stop eating the wall (assuming it’s even that bad for him)? I’ve tried spraying vinegar but it doesn’t deter him for long.

I use these plastic corner guards: https://www.amazon.com/Lexan-Corner-Guard-434-Clear/dp/B002MFUACO
they come with self sticking tape, and if your wall is a right angle it should work well. I live in an apartment, so I obsessively put these up everywhere to avoid property damage. So far it has been successful

If this is a problem in more areas than the corner, I wonder if you could stick some panels of hard clear plastic like the corner guards to the wall wherever he likes to chew? Or some other sort of self-adhesive tiles?

Could you tie two grids together at a 90 degree angle to cover the corner?

Thank you both Those corner guards look fantastic, I had no idea things like that existed! Could I just glue something like that to the wall, or should I avoid glue in case Toki manages to rip it off somehow?

I don’t know if this adhesive on the back would leave a mark on your wall, but I use it to hold Luna’s litter box in place in her cage and it is awesomely strong.
