hello there
so i am having a big problem, ive just got a new bunny and my old bunny is 2 months older than my new one.
and my old bunny tries to have s e x with my new bunny, even though they both are male and he is younger. what should i do?? my old bunny also jumps on the new one etc. what can i do pls help!!
That’s not really how you introduce bunnies, you will have humping and fights. Do take your time to search around the forum to read about how to introduce two bunnies correctly. In the meanwhile, keep them separated.
Your new bun and your other bun are not bonded yet, and should be separated immediately before they get into a fight. There’s some information on bonding buns in the Bunny Info section .
Humping is a show of dominance, you need to bond them properly otherwise fights can ensue. Always ensure that both bunnies are neutered
alright
Also if you can fix the topic title as it gave me a heart attack, something like male bunny humping male bunny would be more appropriate
Alright
cuz i just got em and yeah
It’s ok to be worried, but I’m a bit active and thought there was a medical emergency and it might worry others
Yeah no, should ou guys think i should bring the new one back to the store cuz i dont feel well looking at my big rabbit thumping my little one, he doesn’t seem to like it
they live outside
They arent fighting, but the big one is ** with the lil one..
We are telling you why they are humping and that it may lead to real fighting as Bandit correctly said.
Sorry if I sound harsh, but if you are not willing to give them the time to bond and to properly house them in the meanwhile (as in to keep them separated), maybe it’s better for you not to have two buns right now
Hmm, how can i bond them correctly? do i HAVE to neuter them?
They live outside, i can let one upstairs one downstairs.
Yes you HAVE to neuter them both before bonding.
Here are 2 links about bonding rabbits, from our resources-page:

You cannot just lump two rabbits together. You need to let new bun settle in, get them BOTH neutered, wait a month and then start bonding. You’re asking for trouble if you just stick ’em together. That’s not how it works for bunnies. Please do some proper research.
Also your male is not trying to have sex with new bun. Humping or ‘mounting’ is a dominant behaviour. There’s nothing sexual about it.
Dude, there was sperm.. But Ok if you say that.
I brought the new bunny back. I hope he gets a nice owner ^^. And can anyone explain me how i delete a threat or rename?
You can rename or update the thread title by going in to edit in your 1st post. The title is the Subject box.
I hope the little rabbit is okay and finds a new owner too. How old is your other rabbit?
Why did you take him back?? Any new bunny you introduce is going to result in a dominance display…and how on earth did you see sperm?!
Male humping = possibility of sperm. Sexual or not. Whether u saw it or not. It is still a dominance behavior in new/unbonded bunnies. Sperm doesnt prove it was sexual. Even females hump over dominance.
Thank you for taking the new one back The baby was going to get killed the way you threw them together like that. Its the best for everyone and every bunny if you research completely before thinking of getting a second rabbit

Neither rabbit was neutered. There very well could have been sperm and it very well could have been sexual and/or dominance. Its best for the baby to be rehomed right now

I always thought bunnies erm ‘finished’ so quickly that you’d never actually see the sperm
They do finish pretty quickly – and then stomp their feet and “pass out”! It’s quite funny actually. I still don’t know how you would see the sperm, but hey – I never tried to check!
I’ve got bukkake’d by my devil several times =.=”
I agree, Mikey, best the young rabbit returned to be homed elsewhere. It seems too early to be bringing a companion rabbit home yet.
thekingofsomething, if you are worried about your rabbit being lonely or bored – you can overcome this. Build him cardboard mazes, tunnels, play areas and let him hop around you while you make things. Keep his enviroment interesting. Single rabbits can be quite happy as long as their owner spends time with them.
You could probably give him a stuffie toy too, if he’s not a chewer. Some rabbits like to snuggle up next to them.
Here is some do-it-yourself toy ideas mostly made of cardboard.

p.s. I added “Resolved” to you thread title for now.You can still alter the whole title if you like. : )

it was all over him dude xD
The weird thing is that the new one is just a baby, and my current one is a big older ^^. I never thought a rabbit would do that, and the new one didn’t like it he kept running away. But wow it was the first time i saw my bunny lying down and chilling. I guess he was really happy, but now i took that away ;(. Anyways i’ll make him some toys i might aswell give him a puppet for him to groom.

he is 6 months old now, but wow they get big so fast xD
And for some reason my bunny doesn’t like it to be touched or picked up, only when we give him treats. And whenever i have food in my hand he just scratches it. When i try petting him, he just hops away. He knows i’m the one who gives him delicious things, and i know rabbits don’t like to be picked up but he should know that i only pick him up to put him in a better place, like my garden or my garage where he can be a super fast jet

You’d think… but they actually don’t “know” that we are picking them up for their own good. It takes a while for them to become familiar with it, but with very few exceptions, they really don’t learn to like it. 2 of mine are easy to pick up, although I know they don’t like it. The other 2 are very difficult – I have to corner then into a pet carrier. I can’t pick them up with my hands, and I’v had them for 3 or 4 years. But it is important to be able to pick up your rabbit quickly and safely – for vet visits, and emergencies. You can give your rabbit a treat every time you pick him up. It will help, but they really don’t ever come to like it. (Very very few exceptions).

I’ve had Peanut for over 6 months and it’s only been the last few weeks where he’s actually been comfortable and enjoyed petting. Be patient and go slow Neither of mine like being picked up tho. And I’m too scared to persevere with it in case they hurt their back or legs trying to flail away.
Whenever we try picking up the rabbit he just freaks out. And yeah my rabbit lets me pet him most times IN HIS CAGE. If i let him in my big garage he completly ignores me and forgets im the one who saved him.
A few months ago he wasn’t freaking out but now he is, he also is rubbing his chin against boxes etc. i think my little boy is a man now
I get that this is over but if you ever do ever neuter your current rabbit then consider getting on from a shelter, but make sure he/she is also fixed as some shelters don’t fix rabbits (most do but some shelters won’t, look at petfinder and in the profile it will also say if he/she is fixed)
Neutering also isn’t as expensive as spaying and there isn’t as high of a chance that he will have any major problems with the surgery as it’s much less in depth.
Research proper bonding before getting the other rabbit if you do choose to and make sure to wait (a month or two I believe but you should check that yourself) after his neuter to introduce a new partner.
