Hi, I have a four year old rabbit who I’ve only seen binky once or twice in his life. And I rarely see him flop. Is this a sign that he needs a friend? Or does he not feel comfortable around me. Although I don’t think he isn’t comfortable because when he’s out for run around he comes up to me for pets. Right now he lives outside but I’m going to move him into my room in about a month or two. Is it possible that he isn’t getting enough interaction? He comes in for about an hour everyday and then after he get about an hour of outside time. Or is it just his personality?

Please let me know why he seems unhappy. And thanks!

Hi! While binkying and flops are signs of happiness/comfortableness, the absence of these doesn’t mean he is unhappy. Plus if he lives outside he could be binkying and flopping without you seeing it. I do think he needs more interaction though .

Outside solo buns need lots of socializing there are also LOTS of things to consider moving an outside bun inside as you will change his routine. Ensure you introduce space and rooms very slowly and make sure he knows were to potty and what not to chew.

Rabbits need atleast 30 hours a week outside of their cage for health reasons like exercise. He likely doesnt binky because he doesnt have adequate space or the lack of exercise time to do so.

Definitely give him lots more time outside of his cage to exercise and stretch his legs; this is very important for rabbits. If not allowed adequate exercise, he could put on weight and become restless. Give him as much time to exercise freely and safely as you can allow. My bunny is a cage-free house bun with enough space to run around all day, however he only runs around binkying when it is about 2am and I am in bed.
