I have two weeks off in two weeks time and want to go walking either to the Lake District or the Peak District.

I haven’t had two weeks off for years and want to make to most of it.

Anyone have any travel tips? I’ve never been, don’t know anyone up there to visit and so will be going up blind.

For people who haven’t heard of these two ‘national parks’, these two places are “Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty” and are just gorgeous vast places to visit (vast in the UK sense, not in the USA sense!!  lol).

I’m so looking forward to discovering one or the other areas, and just don’t know where to start…

I know I’m going to miss Kyra (rainbow dog) so, so terribly on this trip. Which is probably why I’ve put if off for so long….

So any tips, you UK’ers out there ?

Visiting the lake district just makes me think you’ll be travelling in “Pride and Prejudice” style, lol. Yes, that’s as much as I know about the lake district Sounds like a whole lot of fun though

Q8 Yes!! I suggest the world of Beatrix potter attraction. I know that’s an indoor thing but it’s 100% worth a visit if your in the town. I took my daughter for her 2nd birthday last year and it’s such a lovely place. I loved it and the kids did too. So it’s suitable for all ages. It’s just a really lovely and well done attraction.

It sounds wonderful, but is it safe to hike there on your own?

Vienna, are there any events on in either region at the time, that you might want to attend or avoid? Maybe that can help in your decision. ie, if a popular event is on you might want to join in the festivities, or steer clear because of extra influx of tourist, traffic etc.
I have no knowlege of either region , just thought something like that could be a deciding factor for you.

Brilliant idea Jersey. I’ll check. It would be a deciding factor for the accomodation, certainly !!
