My rabbits are constantly chewing my baseboards. Its causing real damage, and my parents are upset. Is this bitter spray safe to use on the baseboards?

Image result for NaturVet Bitter YUCK! No Chew Dog, Cat & Horse Spray

It says its for dogs, cats, and horses. Does anyone know whether this is safe for my buns?

It isn’t toxic. But I will tell you that Leopold didn’t care. He tasted it, smacked his lips a little bit, then continued to chew. The only thing that stopped him was putting cardboard up over the chew spot (drywall). I’ve heard of people lining their baseboards with cardboard, so it might work.

I had this problem with my rabbit. We tried cardboard and she tore through it and was back at the wood work in minutes.
We ended up using plastic corner protectors like these ones

Thanks everyone! I think I’ll try the cardboard.

My friend said her rabbits actively licked bitter spray off things. They liked it.

I think covering baseboards it the better option. If he is only limited to certain areas of the house, it should be too difficult to cover those areas up. I’ve used PVC covers on the boards in one room and its just stuck on with sticky-tac. Lol. Some furniture up against it helps keep it in place also.
