Hi all, just looking for a little reassurance really and to query whether this is relatively normal. Basically Peanut and Buttercup sometimes do a sniffy circling thing which I’ve mentioned before. It’s not true aggressive circling that I’ve read about (no ears back, grunting, nipping, biting, fur pulling or anything like that just the occasional tail up but then it immedietly goes back down and a bit of nibbling) more just trying to sniff each other’s bums and inevitably going in circles. Sometimes tho Buttercup will get fed up and will chase Peanut a little and he’ll run away. No full speed chasing it’s just their normal running about speed and I assume if she really wanted to hurt him, she would run faster and he’d sprint to get away. When she ‘catches’ him, she just stops and then they’ll go back to normal and often he’ll groom her. A couple of times she’s put her mouth on his bottom but again, doesn’t bite. He’ll hop away and she’s not left with fur in her mouth and he doesn’t jump as though he’s been nipped.

What are your thoughts? I’m wondering if spring is to blame but as they’ve only been bonded a few months it might be something else?

Forgot to mention, I’ve never had to intervene. It all completely stops on its own.

Sounds pretty normal to me, maybe she’s untreated in his boy parts and he doesn’t want to play? As long as their not fighting circle g is ok from what I’ve read

Thanks Bandit She’s a bit cheeky really because she gives Peanut a good sniff but doesn’t like him going near her back end  One rule for him and another for her…

My Bombur and Blue play chase often Bombur will run ahead, Blue will follow slowly after, Bombur will stop and look at him with his “play with me!” eyes, Blue will chase after, Bombur will run, ect. Its one of Bomburs favorite games

Thanks Mikey. It’s definitely not playful chasing with mine, it’s more a case of Buttercup chasing him to get him to stop sniffing her (even tho she sniffs the hell out of him?!) It usually stops after about 20 seconds but sometimes goes on a bit longer. A minute max. It can look a little intense but as I said, it’s never lead to anything nasty.

Just make sure to watch for agressive signs. It sounds ok to me.

Thanks for the reassurance. I’ve not had rabbits before so I like to be sure I’m not missing any big warning signs.
