        Hello everyone,

So, as he was sleeping at my feet under the desk, my bun suddenly got really scared when my gf opened the door – it’s not the 1st time that door is open , so that’s why i think he got scared like a silly but who knows what he was dreaming – and as he ran for cover,, he has to jump over a small height (like 5 cm) that is my desk’s foot. And usually he has no problem jumping over (he has done it plenty of times – but never panicked) , i think he hurt his paw becauase when he came out of hiding i saw him keeping his paw up and then licking it. After a while (like 1 min) it seemed like he was using it to walk again, and I also touched it a bit and he didn’t seem bothered (problem is for some auxiliary reason now he is hiding in his deepest hiding spot – behind the couch – and i cannot watch his movements).

So question is: could it be just a small temporary pain that he had? Or could it be worse and he is just using his paw even if he has pain in it?

        Thanks in advance!

Hmm. No experience with this per say, but the hiding could be a result of him feeling scared due to the fright he had. Do your best to comfort him so he can be more present for a more thorough examination.

Bunnies are very good at hiding pain but a bunny in pain will often stop eating so keep an eye but like wick said, he could be hiding out of fear rather than pain.

When bunnies panic sometimes they don’t judge distance properly, my bun forgets that I have a case of water on the floor and binkys into it sometimes.

He might have just stubbed his finger check his paw for any damages to his claw or his toes and apply gentle pressure to check if he reacts.

@Wick/@sarahthegemini: the hiding is/was because cooking…everytime we cook something he runs away ..either we suck at cooking and he knows it either he doesn’t like the smell

@BanditCamp: happened to mine also, stepped right into his water bowl, he started jumping like he had stepped in fire also, i have tiles on the floor so besides judging the distance there’s also the sliding/drifting to account for

But he eventually came out and he’s walkin on all four, also i touched his paw several times and he did not react more than the usual (he does take his paw back usually after a while, also depends on mood). So I think I maybe overreacted a bit, but it’s the 1st time i see him walkin in 3 so I probably panicked a bit too

Thanks everyone for your input I will be watching him and if I see something strange I’ll report back

That’s fine I’m glad he looks and feels better. My rabbit has issues with cooking as well and what I do is light a scented candle that’s not too strong in smell but gentle enough to overpower strong smells.

Don’t use insence sticks as that is really strong and my bunny hated that and panicked a bit.
