So I got my bunny two weeks ago, she’s 11 weeks old.  She’s a mini rex.  She was living in my bedroom in a small typical pet store cage.  My fiance’ and I spent yesterday afternoon putting flooring down in my garage and building her a hutch and a pen around it.  I built the pen using wire cube storage that I once used as a guinea pig cage.  She has a 6′ x 8x area in my garage I’m so excited.  I hope she loves it! She seems a little confused right now, but I’m sure in another day or so she will be used to it!

        For flooring we used:

Foam puzzle pieces on bottom, vinyl flooring on top.

That should work. Bit remember that most rabbits can jump 24-36 inches high. So always ensure that the cage has a top to prevent escape artists. Guinea pigs don’t need this but I’m glad your bun has so much space

I’m sure your bun will be super stoked once they settle in I just got my room fully bunny proofed and my Sterling has had the run of half my room for 2 days now and he’s been loving it.

yes i actually discovered this earlier today, thankfully while sitting with her lol.  She jumped on top of her hutch, which is about 30 inches high.  Right now I have the cubes stacked double.  I think my fiance’ and I are going out tomorrow to purchase more so we can stack it up four times.  Hopefully this prevents her from jumping out lol.

thanks! we are working on figuring out a way to get the lamp cord off the ground.  it’s on the outside of the enclosure, but i still dont want her to be able to grab it.  i might just put a pool noodle around it for now.  i think we are going to go another two layers up on the wire cubes.  should i put some around the roof of the hutch too to prevent her from jumping up there again?  could she get hurt jumping down from that height?
