        Two things:

        1) Milhouse, bless her heart, sometimes decides to sit in her litter box and pee outside of it, and sometimes get it out of the condo. Bart has also recently peed on the floor in his condo, getting some out of it, but that was quickly fixed with a move of the litter box. These are the only instances where their urine has gotten on the floor; they’ve never peed on the floor directly.

BUT I thought I read somewhere that rabbit urine stains hardwood flooring, which I have. Is this true? If I am not home and there is a splash (lol), is that spot doomed?

        2) I have a blanket under Milhouse’s condo now, but not one for Bart yet. I was considering getting those foam puzzle piece play mats or an extra large yoga mat. Other ideas of how to keep the floor clean? I’m not worried about hay or poops, just the urine.

        Thanks!

I have a small towel at the entrance of Wick’s litter boxes to catch those over-the-lip pees.

There are times when Wick has peed on my vinyl wood flooring and I see the dry outer ring mark (he also has orange pee usually), but it goes away easily with apple cider vinegar or white vinegar. It may be a different case if your floors aren’t sealed or have exposed stain (which it probably doesn’t). The only scenario I have with affected wood is Wick’s hutch, where his pee landed on the molding. The pee didn’t actually stain it, but the cleaning vinegar did, haha.

The ramp in his hutch is just a plank of wood, but after dousing it in water/white vinegar, it always dries back to normal!

Bramble has never peed on the floor ever so when we brought ron home and he appeared to be using the litter box we didn’t think to check behind it. When we changed it we found some pee marks, cleaned them and they were fine, however some pee had managed to get underneath their dog crate one time we don’t clean underneath it as regularly as we clean everything else and it did stain, well actually its more like it stripped the colour out of the hardwood its sort of grey/brown and almost looks like dead wood where it was so based on my experience you don’t need to clean it up right away but you cant leave it long either. for reference we clean our litter trays every other day so the longest that pee could have been there was two days and it was fine after a decent scrub. the damaged part happens to be at one of the joins between the wood too so I think that’s how it was able to bypass the coating on the hardwood
