So my nose must be adapted to it but my mother says every day that my rabbit stinks and she wants to put her outside for the summer. I was wondering if air fresheners like air wick are ok to use for the room her cage is in. I don’t want her breathing in all the chemicals. Would a plug in one be ok?

It should be I used one for my hamster and she was fine. I have a difuser that I have going all the time and my rabbit is fine as long as it’s not to strong.

My first thought is that rabbits shouldn’t stink. Is her room aired regularly? Is her cage/litter cleaned regularly and often? Or do her poop or urine have a pungent smell? Or does she have a bad smell? (or do you have a case of paranoid mother like I do? Do ask a friend or a neighbor for smell assessment to be sure)

Aside from the downpour of questions, I’m reluctant to use chemical fragrances or air fresheners – also cause adding parfume over smell might create a not-so-pleasant Versailles effect. Maybe you could try to look into natural parfumed oil essences, if you like those

It seems like I’ve read that air fresheners can be irritating to rabbits, so I would be hesitant to use one near them.

Is she spayed? Unspayed and unneutered rabbits can have stronger smelling pee and poop. What kind of litter are you using and do you clean out the litter box every day? The wet/dirty areas of the litter box are best cleaned out daily.

I forgot to mention my diffuser I have going in my room has all natural oils. So I would recommend somthing like that. An air freshener if it’s not strong should still be fine but it’s better to get natural products

Rabbits have very sensitive noses so I wouldn’t use an air freshener. Rabbits shouldn’t smell anyway. What is it that stinks?
