For her bed, she has blankets outside the cage and inside is a straw basket with hay, she likes those. For the litter box, I had the CareFresh bedding, which she uses BUT it sticks to her fur on her butt and under her chin as she is fluffy there. We have had her for 2 weeks now and she has found her one spot she likes to go potty, so she has a box there but the CareFresh stuff is everywhere since it sticks to her so I need a new, cleaner (for her and the floor) option. So what is another good, rabbit friendly litter? I tried the pellet like litter but she ate those, and would not pee in the box with them.

Just because she is so cute!

Ypu could try pellets again with a layer of hay on top? I had the same problem with my fluffybutt Tony, and that did the trick. After a while I stopped adding the hay and he’s fine with the paper pellets now.

I’m using the pellet kind that turns into dirt when wet and seems to work well for both of my bunnies. Ronnie is fluffy and it doesn’t stick to him. I always put hay on top, but Bonny always pulls it out. You could probably mix the two (pellets and bedding) at first.

I use wood stove pellets. They are super because they are really cheap ($5-7 for 40 lbs), compostable and safe for buns. If you do get these just make sure they are the kind without any accelerant added! You can buy these at a lot of hardware stores, agway or farm supply stores. I’m not sure what other kind of pellet you used, but if it was paper pellets maybe she will be less inclined to eat the wood ones?

These also turn to dirt when they get wet, my lop has a fluffy butt and it doesn’t stick to her.

I agree – put hay on top. I also use wood pellets. Love them. Be prepared to get hay everywhere 😉

Thanks everyone. I have done just hay and she seems to like it. She has used the one where she likes to go but she still poops as she walks, I have another post about that.

I am a constant advocate for plastic mesh on litter box for easy cleaning. I use Kaytee small granule paper pellet litter.
