My rabbit is about 75% litter trained but isn’t getting better. I was wondering how long it will take to litter train him. (I know how to litter train him). Also when I take him out for play time he poops and pees everywhere but his litter box. Can I do anything about that? Also during playtime he’s been peeing on me and his pillow bed that is actually mine to lay on but he likes to take it over. Is there a reason for this? Is he just marking his territory?

Your bun is still very young, right? I think you mentioned 7-8 weeks in another post. At this age it can be tough to litter train. It’s great that he’s going well inside his cage, outside of his cage, it’s possible that he’s getting too much space all at once. You can try to help with his training by only giving him access to a little bit of space outside of his cage to start with, and slowly increasing that over the course of several weeks as he gets better with his litter habits.

The other thing to consider is that as a young, unneutered buck, he will probably poop everywhere and possibly pee everywhere to mark his territory. While unneutered rabbits can be litter trained, they tend to miss the tray more often than neutered rabbits do. You will have the most success with full training after he has been neutered

Yes he is 7 1/2 weeks old. I knew it would be harder since he isn’t neutered but I decided to start because it would be a lot easier just cleaning his litter box every couple day then having to always be cleaning his cage plus it is very expensive to buy bedding. I will limit his I think that might work and then gradually give him more.
