Complete newbie here, have had my young Holland Lop for less than a week and I AM IN LOVE!   Here’s my problem.  Captain Jack’s large cage sits on a table stand, because I am physically unable to sit on (or even reach items on) the floor due to limited mobility.  I want to give him some exercise time and have a large, safe exercise area already set up on the floor.  However, so far, I haven’t been able to pick him up, pass him thru the cage door, and set him down outside.  He LOVES LOVES being handled and petted — but won’t tolerate being lifted.  So, how can I move him from the cage-on-the-table to the floor?  And how do I transfer him back to his cage again?  Or is he doomed to life inside the cage?  And how do I move him into his carrier if he has to go to the vet, if I cannot pick him up?  Your suggestions are appreciated in advance!

Is the table stand very high, or could you make (ask someone to make it or buy) a ramp that could go from the cage to the exercise area?

If that would be possible he could go down himself to his play area, and in order to get him to go up again, you could be very strict about only serving him food in the cage. (He should have water and a litter box in the play area though.)

Another option is to get a small box or container and lure him into it with a treat, and then lift the container out of the cage and onto the floor
