        Hi there!

so yesterday my bunny pooped in a different shape. the size is the same but it only has a little bit more poop to the sides. and some are oval ( egg form) just some! others look perfect. i give him enough fibre i think, he  gets daily fresh carrots and his meal. But i noticed i did not gave him hay but the one that is for horses and or cows, does that make a different? And he is drinking less but i think it is because i give him grass etc..

How much carrot are you giving? It should be given in moderation.

More specifically how old is your bunny and what breed?

Horse hay is normally served wet and kinda moldy sometimes bit that’s ok for horses. Rabbits need dry grass like alfalfa (babys) , timothy, orchard grass, or oat mix.

Rabbits can eat horse hay. I don’t know anyone that serves wet and mouldy hay to horses?

It’s important to know how much carrot you’re giving because it is very high in sugar and can cause tummy and poop issues.

I’ve also seen that the poop has something white on it, my rabbit also pees white for some reason..

I agree that horse hay should be fresh and dry, certainly never wet or mouldy.

If the poops are different shapes and sizes, he probably needs more fibre in his diet (more hay). Rabbits should have access to a grass hay at all times. The fibre in the hay helps to keep the gut moving and will help poops be a nice round consistent size and shape. White in the pee is normal, it’s how rabbits get rid of excess calcium. If the pee is thick like toothpaste however it is bladder sludge which is too much calcium in the diet.

A healthy diet is roughly 80% grass hay, 15% fresh leafy greens (romaine lettuce, swiss chard, endive, fennel, herbs etc), and 5% pellets. Carrots are considered a treat due to high sugar content and shouldn’t be fed in amounts more than 1 teaspoon a day.

Don’t forget there are different types of grass hay (timothy, oat, Orchard grass etc) so if bunny doesn’t like one type you have other options

I think he may be describing a cecal

He said the poop is Oval shaped. Doesn’t sound like a cecal to me, cecotropes look like grape clusters.

A bunny’s poop can look a bit weird when you change the diet, but it sounds good that it’s brown now. An average sized bunny should poop around 500 round poops per day, plus the cecals that the bunny is supposed to eat so you never (or only rarely) see them. That is a lot of poop, but a lot of poop is a sign of health in a bunny.
