Max escaped his cage this morning and when I found him he was in my trash can. He’d tossed out just about everything (there was only some wadded notebook sheets and a few other things and a dryer sheet i found in one of my shirts, nothing small he could have swallowed). But when he looked at me he had part of a dryer sheet in his mouth and he was eating it!

I freaked out and scooped him up, then put him in the xpen and gave him pellets, fresh water, tons of hay and a little bit of timothy hay, and a little strawberry. he ate the strawberry first then settled in on the hay. He seems okay, but is laying around a lot. Should I be worried?!

        (I found him around 11:15am)

Was the dryer sheet actually eaten or was he just chewing on it?

If the dryer sheet is still intact, and since it was in the trash I’m assuming it was used and most of the smell/ softener was used, plenty of fresh water and supervision should suffice unless you notice drastic changes.

If the dryer sheet is torn and he ingested some, a vet visit is in order immediately. The dryer sheet likely won’t be digested and may have to come out somehow

The good thing when a bunny eats sth non-food, is that they as a rule chew very carefully. Dogs tend to swallow stuff whole, but buns don’t.

There’s not a lot you can do except what you’ve done already. You can try tempting him with freshly rinses, dropping wet greens for extra hydration. If he stops eating or pooping or the poops become very small and sparse, you should contact a vet.

First things first: find the dryer sheet and reconstitute it: how much of it is actually ‘missing’? That’ll give you an idea of what must pass through Max’s gut. You might be surprised at how little he actually swallowed.

My bunny chews the curtains but doesnt damage them he just does it for comfort I guess? Same with my pillows and hats. Rabbits are careful with what they chew and most likely they won’t eat something that is new or not framiliar with them. Like others have said if anything miss8ng gauge how much to look for if your bun hasn’t potties in 12-24 hours 911 straight to the vet immidately

Great news, Max is perfectly fine. Never did get sick or anything. I found the dryer sheet and only a small portion was missing, and he has been eating, drinking, and pooping regularly.
