Updates on both boys

Vet today below updates

Boston : IS a BOY!
He has a split penis so that is why I couldn’t figure out gender
He’s 13 weeks Old and 970grams

Oakley : is either intersex or didn’t descend
Vet thinks his size could be a factor as he is tiny
He’s almost 6months old and only 1.03kgs
Having a abdominal neuter in 3 weeks

Can they do ultrasound to confirm testes in both of them? Or not worth it?
Regarding Oakley, can you wait longer to see in they will descend? Is he acting hormonally at all?

Not worth it on Oakley as they need to fix him anyway – he’s boy part visibly and he is getting hormonal for sure – and if it’s girl parts inside obviously would need removed and if it’s not parts inside there is testical cancer risk so best just to go in for him

Boston is def a boy – it’s a tube – just split
It’s not that uncommon and effects breeding so breeders don’t keep them ( I’m not breeding though so won’t effect us ) and sometimes it fixes itself .. sometimes it doesn’t . Nothing to worry about though and there is no reason to believe it will effect descending etc

I also posted about Boston’s eyes a little while ago – being red and I questioned blocked tear duct or congunctivitis (?)
Well vet said he produces too many tears and his tear duct is working slower – it’s not blocked and he could outgrow it

I also explained how Boston seems to have issues seeing me from a distance Oakley is able to see me from
You have to be right up to Boston for him to see you even when he is frantactally looking for us ( which is often as he is extremely clingy )
Vet said he reckons Boston has reduced eye sight
He doesn’t have cataracts or anything visible that would cause the reduction but believes he has reduced eye sight but will obviously cope fine with it

My boy never descended, was neutered at 2 yrs 8 months. ^^

These two have really changed the meaning on gender. O.O

Haha yeah I won’t be changing HIS name 100% sure Boston is a boy

Sarah yep split penis – it’s not that uncommon … neither is intersex bunnies …. the split they can be born with – some outgrow it some don’t . It isn’t painful but effects breeding and can ruin lines by it being passed on. No harm as a pet though

And yep they both wanted to be just a bit differnet … keep me on my toes and give my vet something to make some $ off

Boston will just get neutered as normal , Oakley will be more a spay ( abdominal neuter if he has testes in there , spay if he is only boy outwardly and girl inwardly – won’t know till they go in)

How strange, until little Oakley came along I didn’t realise intersex was a ‘thing’ And now split penis. Gosh they are keeping you on your feet! Thankfully they’re in a good home where they are properly cared for
