Do you have any other way out of town for another vet?

Hi, unfortunately not all vets see rabbits. You really want a vet that specializes in exotics. What’s wrong with your rabbit? If you can find a vet in the area that sees rabbits – maybe ask a friend for a ride?

You could perhaps check with the humane society. If they know a vet you can contact or if someone who volunteers for them would be willing to take a look at your bun’s foot.

A rabbit isn’t a rodent so if the town vet referred to rabbits as rodents, I’d not trust her anyway :/

I adopted a bunny from a humane society. He was dropped off in very poor health. They had access to a vet, and had him neutered, had dental work done, they treated his eye ulcers and his tummy troubles, and when he was healthy enough to be adopted, I took him home. These stories can have happy endings. If you don’t have access to an exotic vet specialist, the next best thing you could do for your bunny would be to take her to a humane society. Even though it would be hard to let her go, it would be the kindest thing you could do for her, so she can get the treatment she needs. Bunnies don’t always show their pain in ways that are obvious to us. I had a bunny once with a hole in her back from an inch long fly larvae. She was still hopping around like nothing was wrong, hiding her pain. I’m glad you wrote on this forum, it shows you care about your bunny.

Taking her to the humane society would be the best thing for her, but I was thinking maybe they can help you without you having to surrender her. I’m not quite sure how it works.

True too. I don’t know how that works either. I looked at your profile and saw that you had replied to another post, and mentioned your bunny chewing her paw, but I didn’t see this other post so I didn’t see what you wrote. I read of another rabbit chewing it’s paw because it had nerve damage. Whether you can keep your rabbit or not, a humane society would be able to tell you how they handle it. But typically they have access to a vet.
