My 3-month-old holland lop, Fiona, has fallen in love with the baseboards and carpet in my apartment. I need a homemade version of the “bitter spray” that I am hearing about. I don’t trust artificial store bought things for such a tiny animal. Or any other home remedies that you all have!

I have tried distracting her with toys, lots and lots of different kinds. She will play with them for a second and when I turn my back, go right back to chewing on the baseboards or carpet.

I try “disciplining” her by using NO followed by two snaps, and it usually works to stop her in her tracks, but she will go right back and do the same thing when I turn around. I also “redirect” her into new activities but eventually, she will remember what she really wants to do…

Hi! The best thing to do is get some storage grids and put them along your base boards and for the carpet put done flease or puzzle mats for your rabbit they are both safe for her.

Agreed – restrict her access to the baseboards and carpet. I use 2×4 lumber all the way around the bunny room so no baseboards are accessible. The 2×4’s get chewed on, but hey bunnies have a looooong way to go before working their way through the 2x4s. For the carpet, the destructive pair have linoleum over carpet, then veneer (really thin plywood). They are super destructive… Unfortunately – bunnies are naturally diggers and chewers. Of my 4, 2 have the limoleum/veneer in their room. A third used to chew carpet in room corners – so I blocked the corners. THe 4th has never shown interest in chewing carpet, she likes to scratch and dig. So I gave them all a sand box to dig in, and they get towels to dig at and rearrange. Different bunnies chew different things – you’ll have to find somethign to cover the carpet that she doens’t chew. If if means restricting her to one bunny-proofed area untill she hopefully outgrows that, it might be worth considering.
