That x-ray confirms three broken fingers on left rear foot. They are discussing what to do now. But say there isn’t much besides surgery which would cost around 1500 dollars. Has anyone had experienced with broken fingers on the rabbit? If so what steps were taken?

We have had a couple of rabbits here that had broken fingers. The case I remember best was treated with a splint. Basically you try to attach the broken fingers to the unbroken ones with a “hollywood bandage” (so named because the intact fingers are “supporting actors”). Then you give the bun adequate pain relief and if necessary an E collar or cone to prevent it from removing the bandage. And then you basically wait for it to heal. You could ask your vets if that’s something they’d be willing to try.

Another bun I remember had a cast put on, but it didn’t turn out well because the bun kept removing the cast. It was a special case though because it was a cottontail bunny who was a lot more temperamental and headstrong than our domestic buns as a rule are (even if they too can be quite temperamental and headstrong).
