I am pretty new to owning bunnies, and I am still experimenting with litter and such. Most I have found are very expensive for a small amount, but I recently discovered an equine bedding available in bulk. It is pelleted, however, it is made out of pine. Is this safe for my buns?

Yes, it is safe. Pine shavings shouldn’t be used, but horse stall pellets and pine wood stove pellets are fine. Horse stall pellets are a little less tightly compressed than stove pellets, but both types work fine as bunny litter. You don’t have to wet them first, like it might say o the horse stall pellets bag. That’s only done to make the bedding soft for the horses to stand on, but in a bunny litterbox, that’s not a problem.

I used wood stove pellets in the past, lately I use pine equine pellets. Safe and effective.

I love using the equine pine pellets! They’re so absorbent and help with odor. I purchase mine from the Tractor Supply Store, and I think it is $6 for 40lbs. Sooooo much better than your normal litter. I would be hard pressed to go back to any other litter now that I’ve used equine pine pellets.

I use Pine Pellets, and it works amazing! It’s so easy to clean their litter boxes! I get a 50 pound bag for 4-5$!
