        Hi,

My 4 year old male rabbit, Bunji, has recently started humping my arm whenever he can. He’s been neutered for just over 2 years now, and he hasn’t done anything like this before. It started a few weeks ago, and at first I thought he would stop after a while, but he hasn’t. Nothing we’ve done has deterred him so far. We’ve sprayed him with water, made loud noises, put him in a secluded spot for a number of minutes, and very firmly told him “NO!”, but nothing is stopping him from doing it.

As well as that, it seems like he’s only interested in humping me! He runs around me, grunting, and then starts humping my arm! I don’t know if he’s just doing it as a sort of challenging thing, or if it’s for another reason. I’ve tried looking around the boards for advice, but a lot of the rabbits who do this are either female or not neutered, so I don’t know if their advice would apply to my bun, considering most of it is just “get ’em neutered”, lol.

If anyone has had a similar experience, or can offer advice, I would greatly appreciate it!

        Thanks!

Grunting and running around your feet is the mating dance, which is why he humps you after, lol. Is it spring where you live?

Yeah, it is spring right now, maybe that’s why lol. He’s been a bit calmer today so far, but knowing him he’ll probably start up again soon lol.

Since he’s been neutered for such a long time, I don’t think it’s a sexual, hormonally driven behavior. Maybe he just really likes you and that’s the only way he understands how to show it. My uncle has an old, neutered golden retriever and when I play with him and he gets excited he just tries to mount and hump. He’s not aggressive, he just gets happy and doesn’t know any other way to show how much he likes me
