        Hey friends,

I have Pancakes currently in a tiny little cage until his broken leg heals and other than that I have a portable pet pen to keep him in while we are at work through the day. Once he is all better I would love to have a little caged/ condo area that he can spend the day in and then in the afternoons and evenings we can let him hang out with us in the apartment. We have an enclosed balcony which would be perfect to keep his house in with ventilation and can easily keep him out of the heat in summer.

Shoutout to my Aussie mates; does anyone have recommendations on where to buy things like those awesome grid panels to make bun condos and other cool bun things.. I live near the city so have good pet stores nearby but I feel like the hutch setups they have are not quite the right fit for us.

Aww poor pancake!! I hope he gets better soon! I lobe his name tho Pancake so cute!! So I am going to be building the same cage as you are soon and I am getting my grids off of amazon and my wood from a local hardware store, but any hardware store will have wood.

The only place I know of Australia wide to buy the grids is from the online shop Guinea Pigs Australia, I bought my first lot of grids there. My second lot I bought in a store but it’s a store that’s not in your state. I have heard some people say they bought theirs at Lincraft, but I suspect that’s either an old source or highly dependant on which store you visit.

You can also use puppy play pens to make cage areas, or cages out of similar to the grid panels. Playpens are good but you have to ensure that they’re high enough, your bun isn’t an escape artist, or you have a roof over the top still. I’m lucky to be able to get away with a 62cm playpen (for when we’re home) that my current pair have never tried to escape from. My previous bun Bandit used to jump it in an instant. It all depends on the bun

Thanks, guys! I have a feeling this one is going to be a bit of an escape artist once his leg heals. I am going to try make it awesome so he loves spending some time in his condo.
