How often should you trim a rabbits nails and how do I stop from cutting the quick if he has black nails. Also, how often should you brush a lionhead rabbit? Thank you.

First try looking through the rabbit care located at the top of the page.

But to answer your question you should trim rabbit nails every 3 weeks depending on their age. To trim black nails get a flashlight and shine it behind the nail to show the wick. Always have clotting agents in case you Nick the vein on accident. I personally don’t cut my rabbits nails yet because he’s so young but when he stops completely freaking out when I pick him up (he’s getting better and let’s me pick him up shortly and does not fight or pout as much as he used to).

As for grooming with lionheads it should be super important during a most as their hair can cause gi stasis very easily. I brush bandit with a furbuster every 3 weeks and I have a short dog glove that I use when he’s being compliant to prevents mats.
