Hello! I’ve recently purchased a rabbit (Not an impulse buy, I’ve been thinking about getting a rabbit for a few months now…Just so happened to be around Easter)

Anyways! I got a whole bunch of random stuff from my Local Pet store and the Person there said to give my rabbit one of these papaya a day. However. He does not eat it. At first I tried putting in front of him, I though he wasn’t hungry So I just left it in his food dish. It stayed there so I just kept it in. Every two days I take it out and put a new one in because I don’t want it going bad. He told me it was important, and I don’t want anything bad to happen, I looked at the Poop guide and nothing appears to be wrong.

Also, He told me NOT to give him Fresh Veggies but everywhere I read online say to. Which makes me want to go get some. Is regular Human Veggies from the Diet chart okay, or should I get some special ones, for my special Friend? (Cheesy I know)

You don’t need to give a rabbit papaya so I’ve no idea why you were told that?

You absolutely need to give fresh veggies tho every day. They need to be leafy greens. I wouldn’t listen to what the pet shop person told you, it’s clear they haven’t got a clue. You need to introduce greens slowly from the age of around 12 weeks. Leafy greens include lettuces (not iceberg), rocket, watercress, kale, pak choi, parsley, mint, coriander, dandelion greens etc.

Hello and welcome to Binky Bunny! Clerks in pet stores usually know very little about rabbit care and they often give the wrong advice. Click on the BUNNY INFO link at the top of the page to find out about the proper rabbit diet and to see lists of good greens and veggies to give them.
