My 2 1/2 year old flemmie stopped eating and pooping today. We went to the vet and she could feel a blockage. She gave him some metoclopramide and instructions to give him probiotics and syringe feed water, as well as massage his tummy, keep him warm, and all round hope for the best. His mate passed about 10 days ago, we don’t know why, I just came home from work and he was gone I can’t lose another bun! Any more advice on what to do for him? We’ll be back at the vet for another injection tomorrow
He is currently chilling in my lap with a warm wheat bag on his tummy, it has seemed to relax him quite a bit.

It’s really good that you’re keeping him warm and that he feels comfy in your lap. Have you been told to feed him Critical Care or pellet mash? Even if there is a blockage, it can be important to feed him. If your vet hasn’t said anything about food, call and ask.

          Hydration is very important.

I’m sortry you lost your other bunny. This episode of stasis can of course be a reaction to having lost his mate.

He has always been very affectionate and very happy in my lap which is good. She said she would start critical care tomorrow if he still wasn’t eating. He has managed a couple of nibbles of cucumber and capsicum, his favourite treats, about 10 minutes ago. Should I be trying to give him pellet mash in the meantime? Could it cause any harm? He has been very easy to get water into with the syringe which is good!!

Great that he’s been nibbling! It means he is feeling a little bit better.

The best thing is of course if he is willing to eat on his own. Sometimes a bunny will eat pellet mash from your fingers or a spoon, esp if you mix it with something yummy like baby fruit or veg puree or plain, canned pumpkin. It seems a bit long to wait until tomorrow to start feeding him, if he’s not eating anything at all, but if he starts eating on his own, that’s of course the best thing.
