Hello! It’s spring here in Maryland and I desperately want to take Jack outside. However, ticks around here are relentless and I don’t want Jack getting any! I read that Revolution can be used, but I use Advantix for my dog. Anyone know if I can use it on my bun?

I’m not 100% sure about Advantix, I think Revolution is generally regarded as the safest one to use. Someone else may have better information for you though as I’ve never treated my pair.

I would go with the Revolution. Licorice had a severe bout of mites a year ago and that worked wonders when the vet gave it to us. Very safe and efficient

Thanks BunnyFriends and Azerane, looks like I’ll be getting some Revolution

Advantix isn’t considered bunny safe, although some people use it. It has permethrin and imidaclopride. Permethrin has a deterring effect on ticks.

Revolution is bunny safe and will have effect against several types of ticks, although not the deer tick (ixodes ticks). It is not a deterrent though.

We always issue a warning against Fipronil when someone mentions antiparasitics, so I’m doing that now: Fipronil is safe for dogs and cats but deadly toxic to rabbits. It’s sold under a variety of names, for example Frontline and Sentry. Never use it on rabbits.

Check your bun every day for ticks, no antiparasitic works 100%
