        Hey everyone! So winnie usually has sleepys in the corner of her eyes that i just wipe away. I have noticed that she has white gunk not much in the corner of her eye, where i would normally whip away sleepys.. Honestly doesnt look like an infection. Her eye is not abnormally wet and neither is her cheeck. I have checked her teeth and rubbed her cheecks for a possible abcess. She is eating and drinking normally. Ive read maybe its a hair and thats the eyes way of getting rid of it.i really hope its just that. Im gonna try to post a pic of it. Does anyone have any experience with this?

          Do you mean it’s like a bit of gunk floating on top of her eyeball?

            I couldnt get the pic to upload:/ it is in the corner of her eye, where you would find sleepys. I took a q tip and carefully removed it, came out just fine with a little bit of gunk following behind it. You couldnt even see it on the qtip. Her eye is not over wet anywhere either. Like if a human being has “a squiggly in there eye” and you can just rub it out. The white part of her eye is alittle red. Maybe from iritation from a hair of some sort? Or maybe her trying to hard to get it out. She lives with pepe my lop bunny and he does not have this problem with his eyes. ..also, she always has crusty sleepys in the corner of her eyes, which never raised a concern to me.

              Yes it was like on her eye itself but in the corner. But not anywhere else on the eye. I carefully removed it, should i just wait to see if it returns? It looked just like a human when we get those gunk things in the corner of our eyes.

                Yes, I would just wait and see and keep watch on the red area. Her being a nethie, their eyes are a bit more protruded and round and can easily get poked or stuff floating in there. It sounds as if her body did what it was meant to do if a foreign body gets in there.

                I was looking after a nethie recently and he got a floaty goober on his eyeball. I used some warm, salted water on a cotton ball and swept it out of his eye. It probably would have come out on it’s own eventually but when I saw it, I thought it must be weird for their vision, having a floaty there like that. So I went ahead and wiped it off.

                  I agree with Jersey. Monitor for recurrence. It could just have been pre-crusty eye boogers.

                    I woke up this morning to there being, yet another little white eye booger looking thing! Should i try some eye drops? the saline solution eye drops? and see? im very low on cash this month but my bunnies always come first so if a vet visit is necessary then i have no choice! Pepe’s eyes look fine(monitoring to make sure its not contagious);
                    really does not seem to bother Winnie, I Went in their room this morning and she did her usual several Binkies for me to express her love lol, and then she ate her pellets! Im gonna post a pic! Its just the tiniiest little white glob;

                      Here it is! I was trying to not blind her, but its the little white dot in the corner of her eye closest to her nose. its almost looks like a glare. you might have to zoom in a little but i can see it.

                        Her eye doesnt seem to bother her, its not overly wet, its not leaking of any kind, her other eye is not this way.. if that helps. its only white and no other discoloration

                          Fresh cooled camomile tea. The stronger the better. Better than saline

                              Another question should i remove the white gunk again?

                                It might come out on it’s own.

                                If you gently press under the lower lid, near corner of the eye, does more white gunk appear?

                                  She closes her eye when i try to gently press under her lid, but when i pull back her eye, i dont see any other goop. When i got home yesterday she had had some in the other eye. it was already outside of the eye, where she had cleaned it out..but when i looked closely..I seen a little hair in that eye. There is fur everywhere!! I feel so bad for her, its why i have to get them off of that blanket. thats just holding fur. But i am still keeping a close eye out for her eyes, cause thats unusual for her.

                                      Wick’s a Netherland Dwarf and has gone through a lot of nasal discharge in his time, so he has had a lot of white gunk in his eyes. Like humans, if a glob is on his eye, after a while it’ll drift to the corner so I’ll be easier for you.

                                      This is just from my experience, but your Netherland shouldnt need to have their eyes cleared that frequently. Current at his healthy state, the most Wick gets is a small white buildup at each corner once a day. And it’s a pretty small amount. He had a lot when he was producing nasal discharge.
