My bandits now 2 months and 19 days old. I had a question about diet or if I’m doing something wrong or if my thinking is right. According to the ABRA a havana rabbit should be between 4.5 lbs and max 6.5 lbs, my first vet visit which was two weeks ago (March 29th) Bandit was 1.5 lbs, my second visit which was his neutering day (April 5th) he was weighed at 2.5 lbs. Today I just weighed him and he was 3.1 lbs (he ate before i weighed him so possibly 2.8lbs) and im worried that since he’s so young if this is too much weight gain for a teenage Bunny? I feed him roughly a handful of alfalfa morning and night, oxbow baby pellets (1/8 cup), and I’ve introduced him to some kale at night (1/4 leaf) as he does not seem fond of leaf lettuce (red and green) and I limit my treats (oxbow dried fruits) to two per playtime (three if I groom him or if he’s being super social).

I have timothy hay and he does not seem to like it in his litter but he will snack on it in his toys or hide areas. Am I doing anything wrong? He seems happy and does a lot of zoomies i just dont wannt choke his intake if its normal. Ive looked for other pictures of havannas and they all seem kinda big and all the show buns are 5.5-6.1 lbs (not showing him or ever plan to). I know hes a medium size bun and ill love him none the less im just overstressing for nothing proabbly.

        Edit:

I added some new pictures and videos if anyone wants to see some more updated stuff or watch his growth progress.

How cute! In your last pic though, someone has put bunny ears up behind your head . I’m not sure about weight for different breeds, or how quickly a juvenile bun should be putting on his adult weight, but since Bandit is still very young I’m inclined to think that such weight gain is normal but I’m not certain. To help judge whether your bun is a healthy weight, one trick I know is that when your bun is in a sitting position, if you look at him from above he should appear pear-shaped. Though I’m not sure if your bun has to be full grown for this to count. It sounds like he’s doing great, but if you’re still worried about his weight then if anything I might cut back on the amount of oxbow treats.

Yeah he decided to jump up high and give me a groom (first time hes done so) I’ll limit his treats, he normally doesn’t like being looked over but I’ll see.

My angora gained weight quite quickly in the first few months and then had been holding steady since she hit 6 months. At 10 weeks she was 2.25lbs, 16 weeks 3.75 then at 6months she was 5.5lb and has held steady there over the last month.

His weight gain sounds just fine to me He will still almost double in weight before he reaches his adult size, so he’ll fit well within the Havana weight range
