I’ve never actually checked to make sure that this was an appropriate diet & I wanted to make sure it was….

In the morning, Chom gets 1/3 cup of pellets and a salad- romaine lettuce, parsley (sometimes), and baby spinach (very rarely). These veggies amount to about 1/2 packed cup. He sometimes gets a few pieces of kale in his salad as a treat. Also, I refill his water bowl in the morning and refill his litterbox with fresh litter and a heaping amount of hay, which he can munch on during the day.

At around 5:45 in the evening, he gets 1/6 cup of pellets. Then, before I head off to sleep, he gets another 1/6 cup of pellets.

Is this a good amount of pellets & veggies to be feeding a fully grown Mini Lop boy? ]

        Thank you!

In my opinion – too many pellets and not enough veggies (amount and variety) My two mini lops get 3 tablespoons of pellets between them in the morning and a huge plate (human sized, and piled up) of veggies in the evening.

Mini lops weigh around 6 pounds, so they should only get 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup of pellets in total daily. You’ll see different amounts listed in the various charts that are out there, but most will say around that amount for a rabbit who is that weight. You’re giving Chom 2/3 cup daily, which is more than recommended. I also agree that he needs more greens and more variety.

There are a lot of other good greens/veggies that you could try.

I agree with the others, cut back on the pellets a little and add a wider variety and larger amount of leafy greens

Basil, coriander, swiss chard, dill, fennel, red leaf lettuce etc.

Ok! I grow basil during the summer also I didn’t know chard was rabbit-safe! Will definitely add that to his salad. Thank you for the tips

Yes, and they love it too Though I think it’s high in oxalates so it’s recommended as an every-other day veg, or at least not the main veg for any given day.

ok! I have lowered his pellets down to 1/4 of a cup in the morning with a heaping salad later in the afternoon.
