        Hello,
I am new to bun care but I have done very thorough research in the past year before taking the plunge into bunny ownership. My husband and I have chose to purchase from a breeder that is not local. The breeder is about a 14 hour drive away, where we will be picking up 2 giant flemishes (a boy and a girl). They will be 10 weeks old when we take them home. I understand they will be scared and not know who I am, I just want to make it as stress free and comfortable for them as possible. The breeder says they will be most comfortable together in the same carrier so at this point I am planning on doing so. Any advice on how to make it a comfortable transition? It will be one 14 hour straight drive. Thanks for any input.

Wow, what a big drive! And what a rewarding road trip that will be for you
I’ve never been on a long drive with buns before, but you would make it comfy by making sure there is plenty of hay with them, making sure they are keeping hydrated, and that they aren’t too squished (not too much carrier room, but not too little). Also, I’d use air conditioning to keep them cool if the temperature is dodgy.

If you’re feeling crafty, you could make this “advanced cardboard ball” with stuffed hay for the carrier. Might distract and interest them away from stress. My bunnies like it http://www.therabbithouse.com/blog/2014/10/28/slotted-cardboard-rabbit-toys/

Have a safe and comfortable journey!

Update: The two buns are home safely adjusting to their new life. They are now about 11 Weeks old, born on February 2nd. The male (Tonne) seemed to do better on the car ride than the female (Kahleigh). I made sure they had hay and water but the only one who ate or drank was Tonne. Needless to say Kahleigh has had a few cecotropic poops as well as some double poops. But she is eating and drinking normally, already binkying in her Xpen. Thanks for all the help ?
