Last night, my rabbit wasn’t cooperating. I couldn’t pick her up and put her in her cage. I couldn’t tempt her into her cage. I couldn’t do anything. So I decided to just rabbit proof my basement. I had removed all cords from open space, removed everything from her presence that could hurt her. I closed all doors. I let her free roam for the night.

I wake up in the morning, she had barely eaten any of the hay I had put out for her to eat! It looked almost full! She started eating it that night when I put the fresh hay in, but she stopped. I came down stairs, and she looked happy, but I think she was so distracted, she forgot to eat and drink.

Whenever I lock her for the night, she usually has an almost empty litter box when it comes to hay. I fed her some veggies and pellets before I went to bed. Was that a mistake? What should I do?

In my apartment I have two bunny refill stations. A litter/pellet/water dish in my rabbit cage (as you should) and I have his older litter box/pellet/water dish in my room were he likes to rest. He doesn’t normally use the other litterbox but he will hop in there from time to time and the pellets and water are more like snacks.

Your bunny won t starve itself it will eat and drink when it needs to unless it’s in pain such as stasis or something else.

Is she eating, drinking, and toileting normally today?

As Bandit said, unless she is sick or in pain, she will not purposely starve herself so she should be fine
