        Hi guys!

Ever since we got Jumpy a xpen, he has been chewing the bars and waking me up pretty early. He gets lots of time outside of his cage. He has lots of chews and toys. Do you have any ideas how to stop it?

How big is his cage? How much free time does he get?

I don’t have the exact measurements but I am pretty sure that it is bigger than 8 ft square. In the weekends he is free almost all day and in weekdays he is free for a few hours and he also gets about a 30 minutes cuddle time.

How much bigger?  8ft square doesn’t sound very big. Maybe a larger pen would help.

Luna’s cage is in my bedroom, and she used to shake the bars at night. The only way I could get her to stop was to bunnyproof my room and let her be out in the bedroom all night. She got plenty of free-range time during the day, and it turned out that the reason she wanted to be out at night was so she could sleep next to her sister Oreo Cat .

My parents would never allow me to free range Jumpy. It would have been so much easier!

Oh no, by free range I meant free time, and just the upstairs lol. However, that will change once I purchase my first home .

May I ask why? People wouldn’t expect to put a cat in a cage so why a rabbit?

That is a good point STG, but also another point is that we all have/had rules set by our parents that we didn’t agree with but we had to abide by because it is their roof so to speak. If I asked my parents, I’m sure they would permit Luna to be free-range, but I don’t think it would be safe for her in their house. My parents have a dog who has “met” Luna, and though nothing bad has happened, he is too interested and excited around her for me to allow him to be around her openly. He also chases after Oreo Cat whenever he gets the chance. There are other reasons too, but also Luna doesn’t like the staircase because it is too steep .

Makes more sense. Jumpy gets free time upstairs and downstairs.

My parents barely allowed me to get a rabbit. They wanted Jumpy to live outside but I convinced them to let him live indoors. He is mostly with us and not in the cage.

Do your parents like Jumpy now? When I first wanted to adopt Luna (she was initially my sister’s rabbit and lived with her and her husband), my dad wasn’t on board but my mom was. So I brought Luna home a few times to watch her while my sister was out of town, and I would “randomly”  be like “Hey Dad look at Luna” (when she was doing something cute), or I would say “Here Dad why don’t you let her eat some pellets out of your hand.” He learned to love her lol.

My dad doesn’t really care and my mom sometimes dislikes him. She doesn’t like him because he peed and sprayed on the couch once.

Hopefully they will warm up to him a little bit someday. Well, everyone here likes Jumpy because he’s a bun, and we love bunnies/other animals!
