When do baby bunnies leave their Mummy? Some people say 8 weeks, some say 10 weeks, just wondering, no Olly did not have babies today, he made some nests last week though, I know some bunnies have to be looked after if the Mummy dies or is very ill, too ill to look after her babies or doesn’t want them, or doesn’t want to feed them.

          I’ve always heard 8 weeks.

Here in Sweden the law says 6 weeks, but most breeders and the rabbit welfare association recommend 8 weeks.

I’m very relieved to hear Olly didn’t have babies today.

8 weeks is a general acceptable age. Certainly no earlier than that. 10 weeks is fine too, but no later than that because then you risk getting into the age where they start mounting, mating and fighting etc.

Sometimes a mother rabbit will want her kits away earlier, for example, the mother may wean the kits at 6 weeks and then want nothing to do with them, at which point they should be separated from her, but not sold until they’re 8 weeks.
