So I cleaned up a bunny pee situation on the carpet today, using lots of detergent. Now it is about 7 hours later and I found my bunny licking that spot on the carpet when my back was turned!!!!! I’m not sure why he was even licking there! There is still a dark patch on the carpet from the solution so I can see it was the exact same area I cleaned. I immediately gave him a good drink of water afterwards. Should I take him to the vet or am I overreacting, pls help

Watch his behavior. You should always use a white vinegar solution as it won’t harm your rabbit. If you notice anything different take your rabbit immediately

How long should I watch him for?

If it was 7 hours later then the spot was probably dried by then, and if he licked it for only a few seconds (if your back was turned literally) then I don’t think he would have ingested any of the detergent. Giving him water was good, but try to have him eat some hay too, and as BanditCamp said keep an eye on him. If the spot was still wet with the detergent when he was licking it, then I think you should call your vet and ask if you should bring him in to get looked at.

Well, it’s the morning now and he seems fine – eating and drinking like usual, nornmal energy levels. I will keep monitoring him today.
